There are 18.2 million living veterans who served during at least one war as of 2018. In honor of Veteran’s Day, we’ve gathered a list of some celebs you may not have known served in the military before becoming famous. To these men and women, and all our service member we thank you.
Adam Driver joined the marines after September 11, 2001 when he was only 17-years-old. He was medically discharged after two years of service.
Morgan Freeman joined the Air Force in 1955 and rose to the rank of Airman 1st Class!
Rob Riggle joined the Marines in 1990 and just retired back in 2013.
The late Bea Arthur, well known for her work on Golden Girls, served as a truck driver and typist in the United States Marine Corps Women’s Reserve. She was honorably discharged in 1944 with the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Tom Selleck served in the California Army National Guard from 1967 to 1973.
Clint Eastwood was drafted to the army during the Korean War. He was discharged in 1953 before going on to have a career in Hollywood.
Ice-T joined the army in 1977 and was honorably discharged two years later.
Drew Carey enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1981 and served for six years.
MC Hammer joined the Navy after high school and was active for three years.
Tony Bennett was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1944 during World War II, where he did see active combat.
Gene Hackman served in the United States Marine Corps from 1946–1951.
