Anne Hathaway revealed in a new interview that filmmaker Christopher Nolan doesn’t allow any chairs on his film sets.
The actress, who has worked with the director on 2012’s “The Dark Knight Rises” and 2014’s “Interstellar,” revealed the tidbit in a new ‘Actors on Actors’ interview with Hugh Jackman. Directors Darren Aronofsky and Denis Villeneuve don’t allow cellphones on set but Nolan doesn’t allow phones or chairs either.
Hathaway said, “He doesn’t allow chairs, and his reasoning is, if you have chairs, people will sit, and if they’re sitting, they’re not working.”
Hathaway admitted Nolan makes ‘incredible movies in terms of scope and ambition and technical prowess and emotion’ adding the director’s chair ban may speak to how efficient he is as a filmmaker.” Hear more of this iconic duos conversation below.
