Felicity Huffman looked somber after she left a Federal court in Boston with her husband actor, William H. Macy by her side. Huffman has received a 14 day jail sentence for paying someone to change her daughter’s SAT score to a higher grade. She was the first parent to face punishment in a case in which brought to light nearly three dozen wealthy people’s lies and bribes to smooth their children’s way into prestigious colleges.
Ms. Huffman, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud. Before her sentencing, Huffman addressed the court saying the worst part about this was her daughters reaction to her bribe, “She said to me, ‘I don’t know who you are anymore, Mom.’” Huffman added, “There are no excuses or justifications for my actions. Period.”
Huffman will need to report to jail in 6 weeks although which facility the “Desperate Housewives” star will be in has yet to be determined. She must also pay a $30,000 fine, have supervised release for a year and 250 hours of community service.
Next “Full House” actress Lori Loughlin will face a judge for conspiring to use bribes to get her daughters admitted to the University of Southern California as recruits to the women’s crew team. Loughlin has pleaded not guilty.
